Copy editing is the penultimate (second-to-last) step in the editing process.
When copy editing, we correct or query factual errors, style inconsistencies, grammatical and spelling mistakes, and formatting problems. At the copy-editing stage, we also suggest or make minor improvements in the writing.
Copy editing is performed in Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat.
Proofreading is the last step in the editing process before a document is printed.
At the proofreading stage, we look for grammatical and spelling mistakes, design and layout errors, and style inconsistencies. We’ll also flag flaws in logic and other major gaffes.
We proofread using your choice of Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, or hard copy (paper).
